Picture Of Perseverance

In November, 2009, Peace and Love International began working on a development project in the Philippines. Triggered by the terrible typhoons which devastated the country, Peace and Love International quickly began planning to dispatch an Agent of Change to fly to the disaster struck nation to experience the hardships first hand in order to plan a sustainable and empowering development project with some of the most impoverished people of the country under the guidance of the locals.

The project that developed, Pictures of Perseverance, engaged children from the slum of Navotas who took photographs that showed their circumstance, their families, and their community. The photographs were brought back to Vancouver, Canada and developed with ongoing support from Fuji Films and Kingdom Photo.  The first exhibition was held shortly thereafter and enough photographs were sold to raise funds to support the children of Navotas in their educational pursuits.

Local residents and children determined that a computer centre to support their education would be the best use of funds. The computer centre was built in the Bagong Silang slum and is designated to be used for academic purposes by students in the community.

Exhibitions continue to be put on to raise funds and awareness for the Peace and Love Computer Centre, and the community and people it serves.
