Brenna and Fisanterkraal girls
At 5:28AM on the 31 of May, Brenna, our Fisantekraal Peace and Love champion will be on the start line waiting out the last two minutes before the start of the Comrades Ultramarathon: a 87km run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. She’ll be stretching and double knotting her shoelaces and chatting nervously with other runners, bouncing around to keep warm under the glare of spotlights, anticipating sunrise and the confidence of miles under the feet.

Brenna is running for, and inspired and uplifted by, the members of the Fisanterkraal Bike (and running!) club which she kicked off in 2014. Brenna is fundraising so the Fisanterkraal club members have the opportunity to enter athletic events, for the bike pumps, lights, helmets and tubes to get even more youth cycling, and importantly for the peanut butter and jam sandwiches which keep the Fisanterkraal youth fueled, happy and healthy after rides, runs and sessions fixing and maintaining bikes together.

Comrades is a mammoth journey which pushes the mental strength of every participant. It’s an amazing feeling to run this distance, but there are periods where it is super tough, where it certainly hurts. At about 70km, every step is a major victory in itself. In the last few hours the strength to continue is drawn from the knowledge of the love and support of friends, and in Brenna’s case the knowledge that her fundraising effort is really meaningful.

You can support Brenna’s effort by making a donation.

Your donation will help Brenna to create much appreciated positive opportunities and chances for Fisanterkraal youth.

Help Brenna run this ultramarathon and keep our kids cycling and running and reaching for their dreams too. If we can do this, we can do anything.

Thank you for your support!
